Welcome to the relaunch of Tony’s Tingle Tunes! My new “refactoring” process goes beyond traditional remastering: I work to retain the feel of the original while reworking the stereo mix — often very crude in early stereo masters — and ‘beefing up’ instruments and the overall energy levels to modern standards. Hopefully this process makes the music more interesting and enjoyable … I hope you agree!

Aretha Franklin - “Say A Little Prayer”

I had been thinking about this tune in light of recent events where religious leaders including the Pope and the Dalai Lama have spoken out about the horrors of war. Hal David’s lyrics intended to convey a woman’s concern for her man serving in the Vietnam War.
This refactored version has a more intimate stereo instrument mix while preserving her glorious (and often uproarious) vocal. The fade is recovered a bit to include her final “I’m in love with you.” 🥰
